The 905 nm lidar ceilometer measures cloud and aerosol profiles.

​​Lidars are much more sensitive to small particles than radars. They can detect aerosols such as pollution or dust particles in the lower parts of the atmosphere. They also detect clouds and in particular are more sensitive to water clouds than radars.
